Joint Swap for October 15 Meet Postponed

The joint club swap meet for Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1650 W. Crosby Rd. in Carrollton, 75006 has been indefinitely postponed due to a low participation level. We will take a look at holding a similar event at a later date. Thanks to those who intended to participate and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

BMWDFW and LoneStar BMW Riders Joint Swap Meet – Saturday, October 15

We’re planning a joint club swap meet for Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1650 W. Crosby Rd. in Carrollton, 75006. This will be in the parking lot at Schneider Electric — close to Belt Line and Luna Road. A ‘brats and dogs lunch will also be available at a minimal cost. Bring your extra gear and join in the fun.

BMWDFW Farewell to Summer – Let’s Ride! September 30, October 1 & 2, 2011

The forecast for the next three months is sunny with temperatures in the upper 90’s and lower 100’s. But summer will end – then comes The Dilemma. You know the situation – how are you going to celebrate the end of the heat? And there’s the great riding in October and November coming up. That will have you wondering if the bike, the new farkles and the maintenance are ready for the big riding season. OMG – there are rallies to attend coming up, too. What to do? What to do? What to schedule?

Here’s the answer! Plan now to come with us to celebrate a Farewell to Summer with a good ride, great people and just a plain fun weekend. That will give you an opportunity to work the kinks out of the new farkles and maintenance work. Oh, yeah, we’ll be right next door to one of the best rallies of the season, too! How’s that for a solution to your dilemma?

GPS Training and Sharing Class June 25th

So, you’ve gotten the Garmin GPS and you’ve loaded MapSource on your computer. But just how handy are you with those GPS tools? Do you prefer the Hand Tool, the Route Tool or the Selection Tool? Or do you just wish for a bigger hammer when it comes down to do some GPS routing or sharing files? You’re not alone!

We can help hone some of those GPS skills, though! We are going to have a GPS Training and Sharing class on Saturday, June 25^th, from 1000 to 1400 and you’re invited. We have the pleasure of hosting Herman van Beek as a guest presenter to guide us through the intricacies of Garmin MapSource and the creating, downloading, uploading and sharing of route files.

And thanks to Andy, we are going to do the training in the pure comfort of a professional training environment. We’ll be holding the class in the Training Room of the North Richland Hills Fire Station at 7202 Dick Fisher Drive in North Richland Hills. Lunch will be served for a nominal fee – we’re going to grill up some brats and dogs for lunch and we’ll have lunch in the break room next door to the training room.

Due to the limited size of the training facilities we will need to limit the participation to 32 folks. We’ve put together an online registration form that will collect your contact information and GPS related experience. That will allow us to contact you with any updates and provide some information to better tailor the class to your needs. Click here to register for the class. BMW starts fast and leads race 1 for the first few laps but then fades back into the pack and eventually becomes a non-contender. A brief report from Deseret News describes the race and the winner, Spain’s Carlos Checa riding a Ducati.
